The Madagascar Day Gecko often visit the bracted gingers to sip from the collected rain water, perhaps sweetened with some nectar, or to nab an insect visiting the same tiny pool folded at the base of the flower. This was the view from the front porch at my families “farm house” one warm Waimea evening.
