Amazing silver foliaged forms of the Manzanita can be found in the Siskiyou and Kalamath Mountain Ranges of Southern Oregon and Northern California. They are notoriously difficult to identify due to variability and a wonderful propensity to mix in the wild. This form of, or likely natural hybrid of A. viscida and A. canescens is often treated as Arctostaphylos x cinerea, though it shared leaf shape and hairless qualities with A. patula, also found in the surrounding area.
